This morning we had a real professional ballet dancer come to Kindergarten.   She talked to us about what ballet is and some of the moves.  We learned that ballet is an art, not a sport.
We learned:
1. Danseur is what a male ballet dancer is called.  A woman is a ballerina.
2. They use a needle and thread to tie their ribbons before they perform.
3.  Pointe shoes are made of canvas and glue.
4.  We learned some stretches.  We enjoyed the butterfly stretch.
5.  We also learned new positions that the dancers do also.
6.  Dancers wrap their toes with tape so they don't get blisters.
